An important question and a valuable answer...
"Just as the mission of evangelization
enlivens the Church's pastoral and missionary
activity, catechesis makes
concrete her mission of evangelization."
National Directory for Catechesis, 22
"Catholics should participate
in renewal programs and receive training in evangelization."
Go and Make Disciples, 136
"Both
activities [proclamations and catechesis] are essential and mutually
complemetary: go and welcome,
proclaim and educate, call and incorporate."
General Directory for Catechesis, 61
"These
[small] communities will be a place of evangelization, for the benefit
of the
bigger communities..."
Evangelii Nuntiandi, 58 Why Catholic? Overview
Why Catholic? Offers a timely and much-needed way to implement
the goals of Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us, the landmark
bishops' pastoral plan for adult faith formation. The program has four
key dimensions that combine to make this a unique and effective effort.
Each session includes: Catechesis: Essential topics of faith with direct quotes
from the Catechism and appropriate Scripture references. Connection: Thought-provoking passages and questions
that inspire greater awareness of the link between faith and life. Community: Reflections to provide a shared context
for growing in faith, and prayers to build a spiritual community climate. Commitment: Suggested actions for sharing and living
the Good News with confidence. FOR MORE INFORMATION
